John I. Buttram age 92 of Quapaw, Oklahoma passed away Monday, June 11, 2012 at Freeman Health System in Joplin, Missouri. He was born on November 13, 1919 in Bethpage, Missouri the son of Thomas Franklin and Stella (Mote) Buttram.

He was united in marriage to Mary Griffin on March 29, 1939. Mary has been the only love of his life and had 73 wonderful years of marriage.

He is survived by his loving wife Mary, of the home; 4 sons, Johnnie Buttram and his wife, Prissy, of Stigler, Oklahoma, Jerry Buttram of Joplin, Missouri, Jim Buttram and his wife, Martha of Miami, Oklahoma and Jack Buttram also of Miami, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Shannon Huffman and her husband Steve, Jay Buttram and his wife, May, Jessie Buttram and his wife, Toni, Juston Buttram, Jennifer Buttram, Jodi McLain and her husband, Tony, Audra Reddeen and her husband, Josh and Rayanna Buttram, his great-grandchildren, Brady Huffman, Sunju and Marielle Buttram, Jacqueline Buttram, Jordan Faucett, Joslyn and Jayden Buttram, Addi Grace and Alyx Dawn McLain and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for John I. Buttram will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 14, 2012 at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami, with Rev. Dale Neal, officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Wyandotte Cemetery, Wyandotte, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Johnnie Buttram, Jerry Buttram, Jim Buttram, Jack Buttram, Jessie Buttram and Kenneth (Cowboy) Shepherd. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Bayless, Juston Buttram, J.C. Burggraf, Tony McLain, Jordan Faucet, Steve Huffman, Josh Redden, Jayden Buttram, Jay Buttram and Brady Huffman. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.
